Sooo, all I keep being told is to keep everything stock. But, it turns out everything on it (77 XT 500) is stock, except the carb. This carb is an anomaly. Cannot find anything more than a picture of it, but no real info on it. From what I've pieced together, it's a 34mm round slide with ("rare??") 2 throttle cable set up, off of either a 76 or 79 TT??
Anyway... with this being the case, is it still recommended to stay stock with the air filter and exhaust, or is there a preference to compliment the 34mm mutant?
Any assistance is welcome, to this renewed rider diggin the vibe of my new nightmare.

It sounds like a tt carb to me or an early 583 or 1u6 carb, there's a small square section towards the front of the carb on the the I think and it will be stamped.

Nina will know the identification my memory isn't great.

Mikuni VM34SS was used on the whole TT 500 production, apart 1978 model. It was also used on 1976 XT 500. Pics always help.
