Just to be sure, what rim size do you have?

I checked on lots when restoring my bike and rebuilding the wheels, but never found two bikes the same........!

Both 185, 21" & 18". UK bike, original Takasago alloy rims. I think the manuals permissable lateral runout is up to 2mm, so there could have been a bit variation from the factory.

Front rim 21x1.85 = 12,8 mm (brake side)

Rear rim 18x1.85 = 27 mm (brake side)

I rebuilt mine copying the originals, no steering, stability or direction problems. The spoke supplier was surprised that the spokes were fitted with dished washer between nipples and rims and said they're also fitted to BMWs. I reused the old ones, they were partiality seized onto the old nipples and would have been overlooked if one or two hadn't come loose.

... I guess that only who has the bike from the purchase, can be sure it' s "unmolested".
